Photos from accepted friends can appear in a home-screen widget. That makes small updates feel immediate and intimate. A visible widget also means the content may be seen when a phone is on a desk, shown to someone else or opened around family.

The essentials
Age, contact, spending
Minimum age
13 minimum; Locket’s terms require parent or guardian approval for users under 18.
Age check
The privacy policy describes collecting account and birthday information. Do not mistake an accepted friend or familiar display name for verified identity.
Who can contact teens
Review and accept friends deliberately. The widget is intended for connected friends; any extra account or contact route needs its own check.
Disappearing content
Do not assume a widget image evaporates once another photo arrives. History and screenshots can preserve content.
Public content
The main use is sharing with connected friends rather than broadcasting a public feed. A recipient can still show or save a photo.
Spending
Locket Gold is a paid upgrade listed among the iOS in-app purchases. Check whether the selected offer renews and how to cancel; the widget does not require every friend to buy a subscription.

Official controls
How to set them up
Use Locket’s Parent Center and review friends
Read the official Parent Center with your teen, check the actual friend list and phone permissions, and set operating-system app limits if needed. Do not assume a hidden message-reading parent portal exists.

Privacy
What gets shared
Locket’s policy describes phone number, account information and optional contact-list access. Review who can see photos and whether contacts are being uploaded.
Safety
What parents should know
- The official terms require guardian approval under 18 and prohibit soliciting minors’ personal information.
- Agree on what should never arrive on a visible widget: private images, addresses, school details or photos of someone without consent.
Safeguards described here are reported by the company in its own materials (see Locket: official safety, eligibility or parent guidance (opens in new tab)). They are not independent safety guarantees, and Lowkey has not tested them.
