Your car is ‘scuba’

What it means: “That stinks.” If something’s scuba, it smells bad. It comes with a dance where teens hold their nose with one hand and fan the air with the other. If your teen says your car is scuba, that means your car stinks. To make it even more confusing, some teens use it to mean they’re deep in their own thoughts.

Heads up: The dance is the star of the “Flip the Camera” trend. Here’s how it works: a teen hands someone their phone and asks them to film the dance. Mid-recording, the dancer taps the screen, flipping to the selfie camera. Now the phone is filming the person holding it, and they have no idea. That reaction gets posted, usually to laugh at them. Some are saying this is mean-spirited bullying.
