Sephora Kids: Why 10-Year-Olds Are Buying Retinol

What it is

Tweens are building 10-step skincare routines with products meant for 40-year-olds — retinol, exfoliating acids, $80 anti-aging cream — because they watched GRWM videos. Dermatologists are alarmed, and on this one they're not being dramatic: a 10-year-old's skin does not need anti-aging products.

Why it's spreading

Skincare TikTok treats every product like a collectible, and the hauls are the content. The routine is the hobby; the skin is incidental.

The one thing to know

Moisturizer and sunscreen? Fine. Anything that says retinol or "anti-aging" on a 12-year-old? That's the one worth noticing.
